Nowadays the citizens from 21 countries of Asia, Europe and America study Russian and Ukrainian. Moreover, they also study one of the languages of the European Union (English/German).

to Kyiv National Linguistic University

 

TRAINING AT THE DEPARTMENT OF SLAVIC PHILOLOGY

Bachelor's Higher Education Degree

Form of education: full-time
Duration of study: 3 years 10 months
Specialty – 035 Philology
Specialization – 035.034 Slavic languages and literature (translation incl.), First - Russian
Educational and professional programs:
    • Russian and the second foreign language
    • Theory and practice of translation from Russian and the second foreign language


Bachelor’s degree is the level of higher education, which corresponds to the seventh level of the National Qualifications Framework and implies the ability to solve complex specialized problems and practical problems in a particular field of professional activity or in the process of education, which involves the application of certain theories and methods of the relevant sciences and is characterized by completeness and lack of knowledge conditions.

Entrance test is conducted in oral form in the Russian and English languages.
A condition for a foreign citizen enrollment for studying for a Bachelor's degree is the availability of his full secondary education and mastering the language at a level sufficient for the acquisition of educational material.

After graduation, graduates are granted the "Bachelor of Philology, Specialist in Russian and English languages" qualification or "Bachelor of Philology, Translation Specialist (Russian and English)" qualification and awarded with a state diploma.

Tuition fee at the Bachelor degree level in 2021/2022 academic year is 42 094 UAH / year.

Master’s Higher Education Degree

Form of education: full-time
Duration of study: 1 year 4 months
Specialty – 035 Philology
Specialization – 035.034 Slavic languages and literature (translation incl.), First - Russian
Educational and professional programs:
• Russian language and literature, English language and methodology of their teaching
• Aspect translation: Russian, English

Master’s degree is the higher educational level which corresponds to the eighth level of the National Qualifications Framework and implies the ability of a person to solve complex problems and problems in a particular area of professional activity or in the learning process, which involves research and / or innovation and is characterized by uncertain conditions and requirements.
Admission of foreign citizens to study for the Master’s degree is carried out on a competitive basis.
Entrance test is conducted in the form of an entrance examination in specialty (Russian) and an oral examination in a foreign (English) language.
A condition for a foreign citizen enrollment for studying for a Master’s degree is the availability of a Bachelor's degree in a corresponding field.

In the case of a bachelor's diploma in another specialty, he / she shall take an additional entrance test on the basics of linguistics.

After graduation, graduates get the "Master of Russian language and literature, philologist researcher, teacher of the Russian and English languages and Russian literature" qualification or "Master of Translation, philologist, translator of the Russian and English languages" qualification.

Tuition fee at the Master degree level in 2021/2022 academic year is 42 094 UAH / year.


Issuing the invitation to study and entry visa

To submit an invitation to study at the KNLU, an applicant must submit a selection committee for foreign citizens to study at the KNLU:
• a copy of the foreign passport (photo page), translated into Ukrainian by a Ukrainian notary;
• a copy of the education document with grades (scores), translated into Ukrainian by a Ukrainian notary;
• written consent to the processing of personal data.
In case of documents submission, a representative of the student must issue a notarized power of attorney to receive an invitation.
Within five working days, the entrance examination board will define the applicant's ability to study and, in the case of a positive response, will issue an invitation.
When submitting all the above documents to the entrance examination board for study at the KNLU, the applicant or his / her representative must indicate the country in which he / she will receive a student visa.
Upon receipt of the invitation to study, the applicant or his representative must pay visa support, which is 324 UAH. with VAT. Visa support can be paid at any bank in Ukraine.

To obtain a visa for study in Ukraine, an applicant must apply to the Embassy of Ukraine in the country for a visa to study with an invitation to study from the KNLU and all necessary documents as required by the Embassy.

Issuing the entry visa is about one month long, so in order to receive an invitation to study, you must submit the entrance examination board for foreign citizens to study at the KNLU the above documents no later than two months before the start of classes. After receiving the "D" visa for study, the applicant's representative who will meet him, must be obliged to inform the Department of Slavic Philology of the date of arrival of the applicant to Kiev and the flight number in person, providing a photo of the relevant invitation and your passport.

 

The list of the documents required for admission to the Preparatory Department
for Foreign Citizens of the Department of Slavic Philology of KNLU:

1. Original invitation to study issued by the university.
2. The original and two copies of the document on previous education, translated into Ukrainian with a notarized translation certificate.
3. The original and two notarized copies of the supplement to the education document with information on academic achievement, translated into Ukrainian with a notarized translation certificate.
4. Certificate of completion of the preparatory department (if any).
5. Three copies of the passport translated into Ukrainian with a notarized translation certificate (photo page).
6. Original and copy of the medical certificate on health status, translated into Ukrainian with a notarized translation certificate.
7. 12 photos 3.5x4.5 cm (color, matte).

*The documents mentioned in p. 2, 3 are to be certified in accordance with the legislation of the country of issue and legalized in the order established by the state bodies of Ukraine unless other documents are stipulated by international treaties of Ukraine.

Recognition of educational documents enrolled for the training of foreigners
Documents on the education of foreigners enrolled for training, issued by educational institutions of other states, are being recognized in Ukraine in accordance with the legislation.
For this purpose, foreign students personally submit all necessary documents to the State Institution "Information and Image Center" of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine for the implementation of the recognition procedure and are required to submit a Certificate of recognition in Ukraine of a foreign document on education in KNLU by the beginning of the
second semester of the first year of study.
Based on the results of the recognition procedure, the KNLU makes a decision to extend the training of a foreigner from the level corresponding to the results of the recognition procedure, or to expel a foreigner.
 If the Ministry of Education and Science makes a decision to refuse to recognize a document on the educational level obtained by a foreigner, including because of its inauthenticity, the KNLU shall expel such a foreigner.

 

Accommodation in the dormitory of KNLU

The students of the Preparatory Department for Foreign Citizens live in dormitory № 3 in a 3 or 4-person rooms. To settle in a hostel a foreign student must: 1. Sign a residence agreement (building № 3, room 910). 2. Pay for accommodation. 3. Obtain a settlement order (Building № 3, Room 910). 4. Get a pass to the hostel (hostel № 3). Information about the hostel.

Number of floors: 9.
Housing system: block, on the floor - 8 rooms, 2 bathrooms, 1 kitchen, hot and cold water supply.
Rooms: 3- and 4-bed.
Total number of rooms: 70.
The cost of accommodation for students of the preparatory department for foreign citizens in the hostel № 3 in the first semester of 2021/2022 academic year is 8152,90 UAH.

Health care

Foreign students must have a health insurance policy for the entire period of study. The cost of the health insurance policy is determined by the agreement with the insurance company.

 

Temporary residence permit in Ukraine

In order to obtain a Temporary Residence Permit in Ukraine, a foreign citizen must submit the following documents to the Senior Inspector of the Department of International Cooperation and Academic Mobility (building 3, room 911) within three days after arrival in Ukraine:
1. Passport document of a foreigner with visa "D", unless otherwise provided by the legislation and international agreements of Ukraine, and copies of pages with personal data and visa.
2. Translation into Ukrainian of the page of the passport document of the foreigner with personal data, certified by a notary or translation center.
3. A receipt for payment of the state duty.
4. Two 3.5x4.5 cm (color, frosted) photo cards.
5. A copy of the health insurance policy for the entire period of study.
A temporary residence permit in Ukraine is issued for a period of study.
If during the period of validity of the temporary residence permit in the documents specified in subparagraphs 2-3, the information is changed, such documents shall be submitted within 10 days from the occurrence of such changes to the Senior Inspector of the Department of International Cooperation and Academic Mobility

Upon receipt of the Permit, the foreigner must register his / her place of residence within 10 days, and in case of his / her change - register in accordance with the procedure established by the Law of Ukraine "On Freedom of Movement and Free Choice of Residence in Ukraine".
Upon expiry of the term of study, in the absence of grounds for extending the validity of the Temporary Residence Permit or the expulsion from the University, a foreign citizen is obliged to:
1. In a seven-day period, to submit to the senior inspector the dean's office of the Department of Slavic Philology a temporary residence permit in Ukraine for withdrawal from registration at the place of residence.
2. Hand over a Temporary Residence Permit in Ukraine to the Senior Inspector of the Department of International Cooperation and Academic Mobility (building 3, room 911).
3. Obtain a "Decision" on the cancellation of the Temporary Residence Permit in Ukraine at the Central Office State Migration Service in Kyiv and Kyiv region.
4. Leave Ukraine.
